IMMIGRATION

Immigration has been a persistent challenge throughout American history—one that neither major political party has successfully resolved. Both Democrats and Republicans have repeatedly failed to secure our southern border and meaningfully address unlawful immigration. Emilee is committed to changing that.

Her approach balances strong border security with compassion and practicality. She supports comprehensive immigration reform that includes a clear, attainable pathway to citizenship for those who seek to contribute to the American dream. Emilee draws inspiration from the 1986 immigration reform signed into law by President Ronald Reagan, which combined enhanced border security with employer accountability for hiring undocumented workers.

Today, the United States is home to an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants—a number that has remained relatively constant for years. These individuals are integral to our economy and to the functioning of key industries. Emilee believes it is time to stop ignoring this reality and implement a system that reflects both our values and our needs.

Her plan includes investing in advanced technology, increasing the number of border agents, and expanding the number of immigration judges to expedite the processing of cases that have long clogged the system. Unlike the current administration—which lacks a coherent immigration strategy and has embraced unconstitutional mass deportation policies—Emilee is dedicated to upholding the rule of law and protecting civil liberties.

America must come together to find a solution grounded in common sense, compassion, and respect for our Constitution. Emilee believes in securing our borders without closing ourselves off from our neighbors and allies.

MEDICARE FOR ALL

America has faced a healthcare crisis for years—one that was only intensified by the global pandemic. In a moral, modern society, no one should be too poor to access the care they need. Even before COVID-19, more than 30 million Americans were uninsured, and an additional 75 million were underinsured. When the pandemic struck, millions lost their jobs—and with them, their employer-sponsored insurance.

Emilee believes there is no justifiable reason the wealthiest country in the world cannot provide basic healthcare for its citizens. Seventy-two countries already offer universal healthcare, and the United States has the infrastructure to do the same through the expansion of Medicare. With a sensible, phased rollout, and the support of Americans who already contribute through FICA taxes, universal healthcare is both achievable and sustainable.

Emilee is especially passionate about addressing the healthcare needs of veterans. Coming from a family with a proud history of military service, she has seen firsthand the ways in which the VA system struggles to meet the needs of those who have served. While government programs often look good on paper, they are too frequently underfunded and understaffed—leading to delays, inefficiencies, and ultimately, the neglect of those they are meant to support.

As the VA system becomes overwhelmed, more veterans are being pushed into community care, placing additional strain on the broader public health system. This makes it harder for everyday Americans to access timely care. Emilee supports legislation that strengthens the VA, ensures adequate funding, hires the necessary personnel, and protects the healthcare rights of every veteran and citizen alike.

In addition, Emilee firmly believes in protecting reproductive freedom. Every woman should have the right to make her own medical decisions without government interference. Legislation that seeks to control personal healthcare choices is not only an overreach—it sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the rights of all Americans. Emilee will fight to ensure that healthcare decisions remain private, and that the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship is protected.

Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. Emilee is committed to building a system that serves all Americans with dignity, fairness, and compassion.

ECONOMY

Tariffs were never intended to be a boogeyman. Throughout history, carefully targeted tariffs have played a significant role in helping the American economy grow and thrive. However, arbitrary, baseless tariffs can have damaging effects—particularly in states like Indiana, where they impact key industries and everyday workers.

Historically, some of our strongest economic decades, such as the 1950s and 1960s, were marked by a more balanced approach to taxation. During that time, working families, the upper class, and corporations all contributed more equitably. This stood in stark contrast to the shift in the 1980s, when trickle-down economics became the norm. For over forty years, Americans have been told this model would benefit everyone—but those promises have yet to be fulfilled.

Emilee believes it’s time to return to policies that reflect a proven economic framework—one that supports working families, strengthens the middle class, and encourages sustainable growth. Tax policies should uplift everyday Americans, not place more of the burden on them while giving disproportionate breaks to those at the top.

Currently, the administration is working on a new national tax plan. Under the proposed budget reconciliation, the Department of Agriculture faces a $230 billion cut over the next decade. Emilee recognizes the real impact this will have on Hoosier farmers and producers who work tirelessly to keep food on America's tables. Additionally, proposed tariffs on essential agricultural imports like potash—a key fertilizer—would drive up costs and make farming less sustainable.

Rather than supporting policies that hurt small businesses and working families, Emilee will advocate for legislation that uplifts them. She is committed to supporting Indiana’s agricultural backbone and ensuring that small business owners can not only survive but thrive.

Emilee is also a strong proponent of legalizing marijuana. She has studied the economic benefits seen in states that have legalized cannabis and believes the federal government has an opportunity to replicate that success nationwide. Legalization would spur the growth of small dispensaries, create new jobs, and generate tax revenue. Moreover, the hemp industry has untapped potential to bring back domestic manufacturing in textiles, paper, and other goods currently sourced from abroad.

This is just one example of a broader vision: creating an economy that works for everyone. Emilee’s policies are focused on supporting local industries, bringing manufacturing back to the States, and building a future where all Americans have the opportunity to prosper.

GUN RIGHTS

Emilee is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and regularly exercises that right herself. As a responsible gun owner and a mother, she also understands that gun violence is one of the most pressing issues facing America today. It is a uniquely American crisis—and one that demands real, balanced solutions.

The right to bear arms is fundamental. But so is the right of every child to feel safe in their classroom. Gun violence is now the leading cause of death for school-aged children in the United States. That fact alone is a call to action.

Emilee has a plan to strengthen school safety without turning our schools into high-security institutions. She supports expanding current infrastructure—such as fire alarm systems—into a national school safety network designed to alert and guide students during an active shooter event. Rather than forcibly removing children from classrooms into potentially unsafe areas, this system would focus on keeping them protected through smart, coordinated response strategies.

While Emilee opposes excessive restrictions on law-abiding citizens, she believes in common-sense gun reforms that do not infringe on constitutional rights. As a legal gun owner, she supports:

  • National safe storage laws, requiring firearms to be securely stored and inaccessible to unauthorized individuals, especially children. If a child gains access to a firearm and harms themselves or others, the adult responsible for that weapon must also be held accountable.
  • Universal background checks, applied across all gun sales—private or commercial. Emilee believes that responsible gun owners have nothing to fear from background checks, which are designed to keep firearms out of the hands of those who pose a danger to themselves or others.

These straightforward measures will not prevent responsible Americans from owning the firearms of their choosing. But they will contribute meaningfully to the reduction of gun violence—and they can save lives.

Emilee is committed to protecting both the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens and the lives of innocent people. These goals are not mutually exclusive. With smart policy and responsible leadership, we can uphold the Second Amendment while taking real steps to make our communities, and especially our children, safer.

EDUCATION

Public education is a foundational pillar of a functioning, forward-moving society. A strong K–12 system not only prepares our children for their future careers but also equips them to become engaged, informed, and responsible citizens. Emilee firmly believes that the public education system itself is not failing, our government is failing the system.

For decades, the Department of Education has been chronically underfunded, unable to meet the growing and diverse needs of schools across the country. Teachers—who serve as the backbone of our communities—are consistently underpaid and often have to use their own limited incomes to supply their classrooms. Overcrowded classrooms, outdated materials, and inequitable access to quality education continue to hinder student success.

It’s important to recognize that educational inequity is not just a historical issue—it’s a present one. The last school to be officially desegregated in the United States was Cleveland High School in 2016, a sobering reminder that the promise of equal education remains unfulfilled for many students.

In the 1980s, American students ranked among the top in the world in academic performance. Since then, we’ve seen a steady decline due to shifts in educational policy, reductions in funding, inconsistent curriculum standards, and lack of support for educators. Instead of investing in solutions, the current administration is actively working to dismantle the Department of Education—an action that would set our public school system back by decades.

This dismantling will not only allow states to continue underfunding their schools but will also shift the financial burden onto local governments, driving up property taxes to cover basic education needs. This approach increases inequality and disproportionately harms rural and low-income communities.

Emilee believes every child in America deserves access to a free, fair, and high-quality education—regardless of their zip code. That should never be up for debate.

She is committed to:

  • Increasing federal investment in public education.
  • Raising teacher pay and providing classroom funding.
  • Reducing class sizes for better learning environments.
  • Ensuring nation wide education equity.
  • Protecting the Department of Education from political attacks.

Our children are our future, and their education is an investment in that future. Emilee is ready to fight for a system that allows every student to succeed.
