Tariffs weren't created to be a boogeyman of a word and throughout history, we can point to targeted tariffs that have helped the American economy thrive. Baseline, baseless tariffs, however, will have a severe impact on the economy in Indiana and across the country. Implementing these tariffs while cutting billions from the agricultural committee will severely harm Hoosiers everywhere. In Congress, I will make my voice heard for the people of this state so we don't see plants shut down or farmers file for bankruptcy. Passing legislation that makes sense for the agriculture industry will always be something I hold near and dear to my heart as a lifelong Hoosier.
